![]() And this innovation can only come from companies. In essence, it consists in meeting social needs which expand business opportunities, a virtuous cycle where innovation is the engine that increases social (and environmental) impact over time. Mark Kramer, Co-Founder and Managing Director of FSGĬareful, though: CSV does not mean sharing wealth that has already been created, nor balancing the interests of various stakeholders, as it is a market-competitive strategy that creates long-term value for society and the business at the same time. Profit is the most powerful means to solve social problems” “In contrast to politics, which claims that something is real, companies are dealing with reality and have to find solutions that work. This offers a far broader perspective because it recognises the close relationship between social wellbeing and economic success, and manages to bring them together, thereby replacing the trade-off that is typical of traditional economic thought. There are three ways – explains Kramer – for a company to build a relationship with society: Philanthropy (“giving back to society a part of the wealth”), Corporate Social Responsibility (“minimising damage and making business more responsible”) and the Creation of Shared Value. The most important thing is that they are ready to change their business model, rather than attempting to defend the status quo. So how can CSV solve a problem that is so dramatically urgent? Kramer believes that companies, which are seen as being mainly responsible for the present situation of environmental pollution, provide the only real resource for solving it. ![]() “The issue is urgent: we have to act right now with prepared and shared initiatives to reduce CO 2 emission levels or else the scenario in 2100 will be devastating,” explained O’Keeffe, after unrolling a graph that displayed how the temperature of the Earth remained relatively stable for thousands of years until a spike in the past century. This concept has not been confined to the lecture halls of Harvard, where Kramer teaches, but is leading the way for some of the world’s biggest companies – like Enel, whose sustainability strategy is inspired by the principles of CSV.Īt the #EnelFocusOn event, CSV was adopted as the method for attempting to tackle climate change, which Ryan O’Keeffe, Enel Director of Communications, defined in his opening remarks as “the greatest challenge of our time.” And how could it have been otherwise in this special week which saw the Big Apple host the General Assembly of the United Nations, the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit and the tenth edition of Climate Week. The article (co-written with economist Michael Porter) which baptised the new concept was published in the Harvard Business Review in 2011 and was immediately received as a revelation of something innovative in the relationship between business and society. Mark Kramer, Co-Founder and Managing Director of FSG (Foundation Strategy Group), is considered the father of CSV (Creating Shared Value), a paradigm that is changing the way of approaching business. The quip was originally made by the great late stand-up comedian George Carlin, but it was used by Mark Kramer, the keynote speaker at the event on 25 September, to frame the chosen theme: how creating shared value can tackle climate change. ![]() In a New York lashed with a sudden, torrential autumn rain, this spark of humorous intelligence helped warm the participants at the eleventh #EnelFocusOn. “People are worrying about saving the planet, but the planet is fine: it’s the people that are screwed!”. ![]() ![]() Additional Rope Crunch Tips To Keep In Mind If you don’t feel your abs doing the bulk of the work, then something is off and you’ll need to keep adjusting until you find the proper position for yourself. Most people do their rope crunches with their knees placed at a 90 degree angle or more, but this actually reduces the overall effectiveness of the exercise by not allowing you to contract your abs as strongly.Ĥ) While keeping your hips stationary, blow the air out of your lungs (this further increases the activation of your abdominal muscles), consciously flex your abs, and crunch down until your elbows meet the middle of your thighs.ĥ) Raise yourself back up following the same path until your spine is slightly hyper-extended, and then repeat.Īlways keep in mind the obvious fact that you’re trying to target your abs here, so make sure to focus on crunching the weight down using your waist as opposed to just pulling the rope down with your hands.Įveryone’s body structure is a bit different, so you’ll want to play around with different positions and crunching angles until you find the one that allows you to feel your abs working most strongly. If kneeling directly on the ground feels uncomfortable for you then you can place a pad underneath your knees.ģ) Begin with your hips back and slightly flexed. ![]() ![]() If you don’t have a rope available then a straight bar attachment can also be used.Ģ) Grab onto the rope, kneel down and position your wrists on either side of your head. Kneeling Cable Rope Crunch Form & Techniqueġ) Set the cable at the highest level on the machine using a rope attachment. You can watch the video below for a live demonstration of proper rope crunch form and/or read the written description underneath it… I currently use kneeling cable rope crunches as the primary exercise in my ab workouts, and here’s how to do them with proper form… However, creating hypertrophy in the abs will produce more visible separation of the muscles and cause them to stand out more noticeably when your body fat level does reach a low enough level. Since you can’t spot reduce fat from specific areas of your body by training them with resistance, doing ab exercises on their own isn’t really going to do anything for you if your body fat is too high to begin with. Now, always keep in mind that having noticeably defined abs is largely just a product of maintaining a low enough overall body fat percentage, and this is the most important factor to pay attention to if you’re trying to achieve a visible six pack. ![]() * It allows you to achieve progressive overload by consistently adding more resistance over time. * It does not place the lower back under as much stress as most other traditional free weight crunching exercises do. * It places the abs under constant tension throughout the entire range of motion due to the angle of the movement and the use of the cable machine. That exercise is the kneeling cable rope crunch ( also sometimes referred to simply as “rope crunches”, “cable crunches” or “kneeling crunches”) and it’s a particularly good ab exercise for a few key reasons… There’s virtually no end to the number of different exercises out there that could be used as part of an effective ab workout, but in this post I’ll be showing you one of the absolute best variations available to hit your abs with maximum stimulation and really get those six pack muscles to “pop”. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() limb dampeners and string silencers for the ultimate in noise reduction and. It also leaves you with a considerable throttle lag, as the computer decides whether or not it can give the throttle input you desire. The truck is prone to understeer, and traction control is an unwelcome inconvenience that can't be turned completely off unless in four wheel drive, at a dead stop. The left third of the rearview mirror turns into the backup camera, which basically makes the mirror useless for backing up the truck, especially if it's dark. The sheet metal on the body is thin, and both doors were already dinged when I bought it, at 20k miles, apparently by people pushing the doors, near the handle, to close them. The A/C quit working not long after they fixed the heater fan, and I haven't gotten it fixed, yet. Since the powertrain warranty ran out two months ago, this is my cost. The dealer first quoted me $2,800 for the device, which is in stock, and said they could drop it to as low as $1,950. Now, at 67,500 miles, the variable geometry turbo actuator has failed. That cost $1,300 for materials and the programmer, not including my time to weld the exhaust and remove the problematic devices. As soon as the warranty was out on the emissions system, I pulled it all off, and installed the biggest muffler I could buy. The heater fan quit working, and one dealer took two weeks to fix it, replacing the fuse box, at a cost to me of $1k. The rear differential failed, and was rebuilt. The main exhaust emission components were all replaced twice. It has been replaced a second time, since then. I also replaced the water pump, myself, during that time. Mileage is on par with the older, 12v Cummins in the Dodge Rams. Gone is the death wobble that threatened the older models at higher speeds. The new 6.7L Cummins in the later Ram models are whisper-quiet at highway speeds. It turned out that the new truck spent much more time in the shop than the old one ever did. I want to have more days like this with less guilt about what I’m not doing. Seeing the joy on Amalia’s face all day (Luca was too young and had a separate adventure with his grandparents) made me feel like a million bucks. Yesterday we took a trip to a local amusement park and had the best time with some of our closest friends.
